The Girl Who Needs to Read These Books...

This weekend while the boys where out I had the place to myself, and what did I do? While I spent most of the day watching the final game of the World Cup 2010 (Spain vs. Netherlands 1:0) as I washed dish and dust. But when dinner rolled around I made couscous with broccoli and cheese and set down to watch a movie.

...At the beginning of the Summer I was asked by my film teacher if I'd seen "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" I hadn't and he said I needed to and it was playing at our local (an hour away) Indie movie theatre. I tried to go but the theatre wasn't showing it anymore. As sad as I was we saw Toy Story 3 and that made up for the lack of show time at the other place...

So that night I set down with my couscous and pulled out my laptop and login to my Netflix. And, low and behold the new thing that popped up was the new streamed movie, "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" And I watched it.
...I'm normally not into foreign films, basically, I just don't understand them, but with my moving-loving husband movies are life no matter where the movie comes from. My first really film from another country was "Amelie" This film blow me away. For once I knew what was going on. Sense then my husband and I have watched many other films from Japan, Sweden, France, Italy, you name....

I highly suggested that you watch this film (Check out the trailers) and if the trail get you excited (Click here) the books are truly cheap. I so am buying the book and start reading the story. I had always wanted to but just never did. I hope you get to see this film and read these book then we can chat.

...Ps. If you have seen this film or not another great movie is "Let the Right One In" Hollywood is making a English version but I'm to jazzed about it. The screen shots look shot for shot of this version...

Enjoy!

Font Diva

Good Type. Bad Type. Ugly Type. Like that font. Don't like that font. Graphic Designers in my program go on and on about font'ing this and font'ing that. It can be kindof annoying but it's their field and knowing what works better for a design as apposed to what doesn't makes them better at their craft. Yet what does it matter if you use a Sans serif or not? What is a Sans, Sans Serif, Serif? What is the ISSUE with using Comic Sans? I'm a film buff not so much a graphic design one, so I don't need to take a typography class. I don't know the rules and, sad to say not many students in the department can answer any of these questions. Can you?

Font Link for your enjoyment...

Putting the "e" in e-publishing

Spring 2010 I got the chance to take a "once every two years" class in stop motion animation. I teamed up with Billy (the IT Guy) and Stacy (former Miss Las Vegas) to create a paper animation. We worked, under hot light, and long hour to make our version of the Greek tale of "Daedalus & Icarus." Check out the finish film; Daedalus & Icarus Later that semester I turning it in to a local film festival and guess what? Santa Fe 3 Minute Film Festival Yep! It got excepted. And this Summer Stacy and I teamed up again for a Summer internship to make our animation into a online book. e-Book This simple project has just blown up in a super creative way.

Enjoy!
